Theory Analysis – Virginia Henderson Virginia Avenel Henderson has been called the â€Å"first lady of nursing† and the â€Å"Nightingale of modern nursing.† She is known for her definition of nursing, â€Å"the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to peaceful death) that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. It seems as though, like day evolves into night, people change and evolve as well. Dianne and I have been working together throughout the course of three sessions. We have built a strong helping relationship and it seems as though Dianne has placed trust in our bond. During our previous sessions, Dianne has disclosed that she is 33 years old and was previously a social work student before she had to pause her schooling. At the time, the internet existed as a closed network of computers limited to mostly government agencies and research institutions.
